HELEN E. LOKKEN, age 86, of Marshfield (formerly of Loyal), passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Golden Living Center - Three Oaks, in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate and burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery with Helen's grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Roger Lokken, Jerry Lokken, Terry Weyer, and George Peterson. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal, from 5pm to 7pm, and at the church on Tuesday, from 10am until time of service.


Helen Elizabeth Rude was born on July 19, 1928 in LaCrosse, WI the daughter of Harold and Regina (Anderson) Rude. She was raised and educated in the Blair, WI area and graduated from Blair High School. She later attended Technical School in LaCrosse, where she earned her Nurse's Aid Certificate and later worked as a Nurse's Aid at the Lutheran Hospital. Helen was united in marriage to Milton R. Lokken on October 18, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. In addition to being a homemaker, farmwife, and a mother of 6 children, Helen worked as a bookkeeper at the Blair Canning Factory, and later was a cook's helper at Loyal High School. After retiring in 1980, Milton and Helen sold their farm, built a home across the road, and resided there until entering the Golden Living Center in February 2010.


Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught 7th grade Sunday School, for many years.


Earlier in her life, Helen always found time to volunteer with 4-H groups and work at the county fair. Over the years, she especially loved sewing clothes, embroidery, crocheting, plaque making, and working on art projects of all kinds.


Helen is survived by her 5 children: Lana Deville of Shreveport, LA, Lila (Ed) Bergin of Sidney, MT, Tom (Rhonda) Lokken of Greenwood, Rhonda F. Burt of Spencer, and Scott (Connie) Lokken of Marshfield; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister-in-law: Inez Rude of Blair.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Milton in 2011, her son: Marvin in 1988, 2 brothers: Rolf Rude and Oswald Rude, and 1 sister: Mable Jackson.
