Diane Rae Schultz was born on May 25, 1952, in Rockford, IL to Clayton W. and Gladys M. (Stroud) Schultz. When she was nine years old, her family moved to Greenwood, where she received her education and attended Greenwood High School. Diane was united in marriage to Duane H. “Dewey” Schultze on April 25, 1970, at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. Diane attended Mid-State Technical College in Marshfield, WI, studying to be a Health Unit Coordinator. She worked at Marshfield Clinic and St. Joseph Hospital, in Marshfield, for a short time. Duane and Diane took over the family farm in Greenwood in 1978, and Diane dedicated her time to being a homemaker and farm wife.
She loved her family dearly, and loved seeing them happy. She also loved making and preparing holiday meals earlier on in life when she was able. Diane didn’t know how to cook small meals; it was always to feed an army. What made her happy was being with family and friends. If you would ask family what they remember is her kindness and generosity. She loved her flower baskets in the summer, and hearing all about the adventures of her grandkids. And never stopped worrying about them. In the past couple of years, her outdoor cats have been her hobby with feeding and taking care of them. She fed them so well that she started off with 2 cats and ended up with multiple outdoor cats.
She will be dearly missed by her three children: Jason (Patty) Schultze of Greenwood, Sherri (Brad) Ludwig of Mosinee, WI and Justin (Jamie) Schultze of Greenwood, WI; nine grandchildren: Josh (Abby) Ludwig, Kelsey (Austin) Stefanich, Kaley (Luke) Reinke, Kaeden Ludwig, Ethan (Taylor) Schultze, Marshall Schultze, Colton Schultze, Ben (Katie) Van Dusen, and Josh (Ashley) Van Dusen; 10 great-grandchildren: Cora Ludwig, Kollins Ludwig, Wyatt Van Dusen, Emma Van Dusen, Taylor Van Dusen, Logan Van Dusen, Landon Van Dusen, Diesel Van Dusen, Silas Stefanich and Emberlyn Schultze; her mother-in-law: Eleanor Schultze of Thorp, WI; one brother, Duane Schultz, of Berlin, WI; two sisters: Wilma (Earl) Tennant of Huntsville, TX, Sandi Coyle of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; three sisters-in-law: Doris Schultz of Waupaca, WI, Sandra Stulo of Marshfield, WI, Diane (Jim) Johnson Germantown, WI; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her parents, Clayton and Gladys Schultz; one granddaughter, Aspen Schultze; three brothers: Gordon Schultz, Larry Schultz, Clayton Schultz Jr.; two sisters: Violet Sheneman and Lois Chilson; one sister-in-law, Barbara Schultz; and her father-in-law, Henry Schultze.
The family of Diane extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate doctors, nurses and staff at Marshfield Medical Center ICU for their exceptional care that was given to her during her time of need.
