     JOHN A. SCHULTZ, age 86, of Loyal, WI, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 10am until time of service.  Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175 following the service.  Interment of John's cremains will take place in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
     John Alfred Schultz was born at home in the Town of Herman, rural Gresham, WI, on March 14, 1936.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Gresham area, graduating from Gresham High School in 1954.  After completing high school, John enlisted into the U.S. Army on September 1, 1954 and served until his honorable discharge on August 7, 1957.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Pahlow on September 6, 1958 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, WI.  They resided in Shawano where John was a policeman for the city, later becoming undersheriff.  He also worked with his father-in-law decaling trucks for local area businesses.  In the Fall of 1971, he began working for the Skelgas propane company in Gladstone, MI.  In 1975, they moved to Loyal where he took over the management of the Skelgas office until 1998.  John was then employed driving school bus for Dahl Bus Service, and at Metalwerks, in Loyal, manufacturing Rugged Road Trailers.  He worked at Metalwerks until its closing in 2006.  John continued to drive bus until retiring in 2011.  His wife, Shirley, died on July 14, 2013.  He resided at home until his passing.
     He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Loyal American Legion Post #175, and served on the Loyal City Council for several years.
     John had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends, being at his cabin up north, hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards.
     He is survived by his two children: Brian (Debra) Schultz of Fredericksburg, VA and Traci Breitung of Loyal; five grandchildren: Britney Filkoski, Brendon and Amanda Schultz, and Amy and Connor Breitung; three great-grandchildren: Mattie and Lawrence Filkoski, and Jackson Schultz; his sweetheart: Dorothy Baumgartner and her family; Robin, Todd and Mark; three brothers: Donald Schultz of Shawano, WI, Kenneth (Judy) Schultz of Thorton, WI, and Henry Schultz of Shawano, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     John was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Shirley.
