Full Obituary

     KENNETH L. "KEN" SEVERSON, age 67, of Greenwood, WI, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 18, 2017.  Funeral services will be held at 4pm on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Greenwood, with Rev. Steve Brice officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 2pm until time of service.
     Kenneth Lester Severson was born on June 15, 1949 in Greenwood, WI, to Lester and Helen (Thomas) Severson.  He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Beaver and graduated from Loyal High School in 1968.  Ken entered the U.S. Army in August 1969 and served until his honorable discharge in August 1971.  He was united in marriage to Joan I. Rakovec on April 22, 1972 at Holy Family Catholic Church, in Willard, WI.  They lived in Stratford for 4 years then moved to the Unity/Riplinger area.  In 1979, Ken started his own construction business, K&J Severson Construction, which he operated until the time of his death.
     He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends.  At 12 years old, he began making maple syrup with his father and grandfather.  In 2003, he and his wife built their home in that very woods.
     Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping very much.  Ken was a member of the The Wildcat Bear Hunters.  He spent much of his free time in the woods with his hounds, on the river bank, or on the lake.  He especially enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren his knowledge, love, and enjoyment of hunting and the outdoors.    
     He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joan, of Greenwood;  two daughters:  Glynda (Jeremy) Gosse of Colby, WI,  Tara (Bill) Mitte of Greenwood;  five grandchildren:  Damon (Kelly) Severson, Cassie and Katrina Gosse, Parker and Tiffany Mitte;  his parents: Lester and Helen Severson of Greenwood;  one sister:  Kathy (Richard) Much of Greenwood;  two brothers:  Dale (Kathy) Severson of Curtiss,  Richard Severson of Loyal; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
     Ken was preceded in death by one brother:  Bob Severson; and two sisters-in-law: Lisa Severson and June Severson.
