ANNA D. MOSS, age 85, of Medford, formerly of Thorp, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Aspirus Medford Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Thorp Funeral Home. Pastor James Krueger will officiate and burial will follow in East Thorp Cemetery with Anna's grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 4-8pm, and again on Wednesday, from 10am until time of service.
Anna Dorothy Helland was born on April 13, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, WI, to Joseph, Sr. and Johanna (Pahl) Helland. She was raised in the Jim Falls/Cornell/Chippewa Falls area and received her education at Chippewa Falls area schools. After completing her education, Anna worked at home taking care of her parents and other family members. She was united in marriage to Clarence H. Moss on February 17, 1951 in Bloomer, WI. They lived in Cornell for a short time, before moving to Thorp in 1966. After Clarence's death on March 29, 2002, Anna continued to reside in Thorp until moving to live with her children in 2004.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, drawing, solving puzzles, reading her Bible, and volunteering at the Owen Food Pantry.
Anna was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford.
She is survived by 7 daughters: Diana (John) Laager of Thorp, Teresa (Gary) Ernst of Stanley, Rita Mravik of Medford, Wanda (Duane) Smith of Thorp, Lona (Patrick) Rothenbach of Bruce, Cynthia (Harry) Johnson of Greenwood, Angela Moss of Thorp; 2 sons: Roland Moss of Medford, Ronald (Donna) Moss of Medford; 28 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Doris Gass of Ladysmith, Linda Jones of Cornell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; one granddaughter: Brenda Laager; one son-in-law: Joseph Mravik; and one brother: Joseph Helland, Jr.
