William "Bill" Bernard Stabnow was born on January 28, 1930 at the family home in Greenwood, WI to Lila Mae (Syth) and Carl Fred Stabnow.  Bill lived his entire life in Greenwood.  After leaving high school, he was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 27, 1951 and was deployed to Korea, serving until his honorable discharge on November 26, 1952.  Bill returned to his home in Greenwood, where he was employed as an electrician by Frank Peroshek, and worked for Frank until retiring in 1992.
Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Virtually every possible day of his adult life, Bill could be found in the woods or on the water.  He was a founder of the Black River Bowman’s Club and a member for many years.  He was also a long time member of Greenwood American Legion.
He was always known as a consummate jokester and could always find a way to tell a joke and get a laugh.  Of those who knew him, few escaped his penchant for pranks and humor.
