EDWARD A. BAIER, age 64, of Thorp passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Ministry Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 12pm until 4pm at the Finish Line Bar in Thorp.
Edward Alfred Baier was born on February 19, 1951 in Libertyville, IL the son of Herman and Frances (Stephensen) Baier. He was raised and educated in the Round Lake, IL area, graduating from Round Lake High School in 1969. After high school, Ed went to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, in Waukegan, IL for a few years. He then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he started a lawn service business. He was united in marriage to Kris Menges in 1978, in Phoenix, and they later divorced. In 1991, he sold his lawn service business and purchased a bowling alley. He operated the bowling alley until 1996, when he moved to Withee, WI to help his sister on her farm. Ed then worked as a home care worker for Pabich's group homes in Greenwood, and later for Aurora Community Health, in Thorp. He was united in marriage to Karen P. Kolpack on August 20, 2004 in Nashville, TN.
Ed had many interests, but especially loved his grandchildren, gambling in Las Vegas, camping, fishing and cooking.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen P. Baier, of Thorp; two daughters: Melannie (Rich) Rabideau of Thorp, Michelle (Dorrian) Jones of Goodyear, AZ; four step-daughters: Bobbie (Daniel) Neisius of Thorp, Ann (Luke) Batteen of Thorp, Ellen (Aaron) Kromrey of Osceola, Carrie Pogodzinski (fiance Jason Hempelman) of Thorp; nineteen grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kaedynce, Chloe, Sebastian, Waylan, Ivan, Dorian, Kalvin, Emma, Emma, LiliAnn, William, Shelby, Hunter, Damian, Alex, Lance, McKenzie, Saharra; three sisters: Barbara (Stan) Cohen of Phoenix, AZ, Judy (Larry) Butler of Withee, Kristine Sorensen of Withee; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Victoria; and one brother-in-law, Bill Sorensen.
