     JOSEPH S. STOKOSA, age 82, of Lublin, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, August 17, 2015 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin.  Rev. Madanu Sleeva Raju will officiate and burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Lublin American Legion Post #547.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Strzok, Matt Earnest, Richard Bruels, Paul Filipiak, Jason Stuner and Gilbert Voelker.  Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm, and again on Monday at the church, from 9am until time of service.
     Joseph Sylvester Stokosa was born on June 10, 1933 in Lublin, WI, the son of Louis and Lottie (Lewandowski) Stokosa. He was raised and received his education in the Lublin area.  After completing his education, Joe worked at the Bellinger Dairy Cheese Factory from 1951 to 1953.  He then enlisted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War as a mechanic.  After his honorable discharge in 1955, he moved to Chicago, where he met his future wife, Shirley J. Larson, whom he married on September 21, 1957.  They moved to Lublin, WI in June of 1962, where they raised their family.  Joe owned and operated the Lublin Garage from June of 1962 until June of 2015, when health issues forced him to retire.
     He is survived by his wife: Shirley Stokosa of Lublin; one daughter: Janice (Rick) Bruels of Mankato, MN; two sons: Michael (Sharon) Stokosa of Lublin, David (Shelley) Stokosa of Kronenwetter, WI; four grandchildren: Ashley (Matt) Kuemper, Tyler Bruels, Dylan Stokosa, Parker Stokosa; one great grandson: Maslow Kuemper; 2 step grandchildren: Leann (Chip) Wollenburg, Michael (Christine) Azzarello; 5 step greatgrandchildren: Kyle, Amber, Jillian, William and Mia; one brother: Louis Jr. (Betty) Stokosa of Lublin; two sisters: Clem Filipiak of Gilman, Carol Strizic of Conrath, WI; one sister-in-law: Lillian Stokosa of Thorp; one brother-in-law: Ted Strzok of Ladysmith; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     Joe was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Eugene Stokosa; and two sisters: Louise Strzok and Marcie Kornesczuk.
