ROBERT D. "BUCK" SCHULTZE, age 86, of Thorp, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 13, 2015 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. Rev. Raymond Bell will officiate and burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, in Withee, with Buck's grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm, and again at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Robert Daniel Schultze was born on December 21, 1928 to Daniel and Susan (Fitzl) Schultze in the Township of Worden, rural Stanley, WI. He attended Thorp High School for three years and then joined the US Army. After serving 18 months in the South Pacific, Buck returned home and continued his education, graduating from Withee High School. He then attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering for one year. Over the years, Robert lived and worked in Milwaukee, North Dakota, Chicago, Los Angeles and locally for the Clark County Highway Department, in addition to farming. In 1977, Robert married Dorothy O’Brien at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Thorp.
Buck enjoyed spending his time farming, working on tractors, making wood and maple syrup, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert was a member of the Thorp VFW Post #9057.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schultze; daughters: Hilde Schultze and Roberta Bradley; sons: Darrell (Laura) Schultze and Daniel (Tracy) Schultze; step-daughters: Peggy (Tom) Makovec and Connie Bergman (Dave "Beaner" Lemke); fourteen grandchildren: Courtney, Dawn, David, Jason, Amanda, Dana, Megan, Sarah, Douglas, Linsie, Bradley, Jacob, Braden, and Ryan; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darrell Schultze; and one sister, Frances Herriges.
