Full Obituary
L. PETE CHRISTOPHERSEN, age 89, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp. Rev. David Dugas will officiate and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee, with military rites conducted by Thorp American Legion Post #118. Pallbearers will be: Trent Christophersen, Ty Christophersen, Tim McCredden, Tom Smasal, Kevin Burzynski and Norm Kommer. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9am until time of service.
Lawrence Peter Christophersen was born on April 8, 1925 in rural Withee, WI, the son of Peter and Alma (Olsen) Christophersen. He was raised and educated in the Withee area, graduating from Withee High School in 1943. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps on August 2, 1943 and served during WWII until his honorable discharge on September 16, 1945. Pete was united in marriage to Maxine Thorson on June 29, 1946 in Withee, WI. He began his employment as a cashier at the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Eau Claire, where he was employed from 1947 to 1952. Pete then worked as an Assistant Vice President at Thorp Finance Corporation in Thorp, from 1953 until 1976. He then became a self-employed real estate broker, appraiser and investor. Pete was the sole shareholder/officer of C.M.C. & McGrogan Draw, Inc., Christopherson, LLC, and Thorp Auctions & Realty, LLC, where he worked until the time of his death.
Pete had many interests, but especially enjoyed walking on the beach in Florida, writing poetry, and working with people.
He is survived by 3 grandchildren: Trent Christophersen of Hudson, Ty Christophersen of Hudson, and Tara (Jim) Anthony of Eau Claire; 6 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Maxine, in October 1992; his son: Dennis P. Christophersen, in December 2008; and 2 brothers: Clarence and Gordon Christophersen.
In lieu of flowers, Pete's family asks that memorials be directed to the Pete Christophersen Memorial Fund to be designated to one of his favorite charities.
