DALEN E. MAKEEFF, age 73, of Thorp, passed away at his home on Monday, February 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Thorp Funeral Home. Pastor James Gale will officiate and burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Lublin. Pallbearers will be: Justin Makeeff, Jamie Makeeff, Craig Haas, Derek Haas, Ryan Danczak and Brittany Danczak. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Thursday, from 10am until time of service.


Dalen Eugene Makeeff was born on February 23, 1941 in Turtle Lake, ND, the son of John and Dorothy (Lentz) Makeeff. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Turtle Lake area. After completing his education, Dalen worked on the railroad for a few years, before moving to Eau Claire, WI. While living in Eau Claire, he worked at Presto Industries. Dalen was united in marriage to Eleanor J. Witek on July 27, 1968 in Neillsville, WI. In 1973, they moved to Thorp and purchased a dairy farm in the Town of Withee, where he resided until the time of his death.


He had many interests, which included bowling, raising horses, and riding motorcycles. But, he especially loved farming, and visiting with people over a good cup of coffee.


Dalen is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of Thorp; 4 children: James (Peggy) Makeeff of Thorp, Steven (Karen) Danczak of Eau Claire, Robert (Roseann) Danczak of Marshfield, Karen Haas (Jon) of Chippewa Falls; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Gene (Jeanie) Makeeff of Severance, KS, Dennis (Marcia) Makeeff of Eau Claire, Dwight (Robyn) Makeeff of Eau Claire, Larry (Suzanne) Makeeff of Carthage, MO; one sister: Berneice (James) Gale of Chippewa Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Darlene McGreger.
