Full Obituary

CAROL L. VETTERKIND, age 85, of Thorp, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Thorp. Rev. Paul Bittner will officiate and burial will follow in Sylvan Cemetery, rural Thorp. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 12 noon until time of service.

Carol Lorraine Vetterkind was born on March 3, 1929 in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, to Elmer C. and Ada M. (Lewin) Vetterkind. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Goff Country School.

She enjoyed looking at her picture books, taking care of her chickens, and watching her favorite TV shows: Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and the Andy Griffith Show. She especially enjoyed going for car rides to visit relatives.

Later in life, Carol lived with her friend and caregiver, Donna Andruskiewicz in Thorp, before entering the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where she resided until her death.

Carol is survived by three sisters: Jane Elwood of Chippewa Falls, Jean Larson of Eau Claire, and Lila (Wallace) Gwidt of Wausau; three brothers: Leonard (Marilyn) Vetterkind of Thorp, Glen (Diane) Vetterkind of Thorp, and Vernon (Donna) Vetterkind of Rothschild; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Eleanor Casalez; and one brother and one sister in infancy.
