Full Obituary

BERNDA STEVENS, age 91, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp with Rev. John Sindler officiating. Burial will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Big Spring Cemetery, rural Wisconsin Dells, WI. Pallbearers will be: Ken Stevens, Bob Wall, Jeremy Wall, and Roy Wrezinski. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 10:00am until time of service.
Bernda Wrezinski was born on March 28, 1923 in rural Adams County, WI, the daughter of Adolph "Paul" and Irene (Evans) Wrezinski. She was raised on her parent's farm and received her education at Davis Corners Country School. After completing her education, she was united in marriage to Lyle A. Stevens on August 11, 1939. Together, they owned and operated a country variety store and tavern for many years. Later, Bernda worked various jobs in Wisconsin Dells before moving to Thorp to be closer to her son, Kenneth.
Bernda had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, hunting, fishing, needle point, and sewing. She was always willing to help others out whenever she could. While living in Thorp, she could always be found volunteering her time at the Thorp Senior Center. She was also a member of the Thorp American Legion Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by 2 sons: Kenneth Stevens of Thorp and Terry (Nancy) Stevens of Land O' Lakes; 2 grandchildren: Curt Stevens and Ronda Stevens; 2 great-grandchildren: Eddie and Gracie; 1 sister: Florence Snamiske of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bernda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle on July 9, 1990; her daughter-in-law: Beverly Stevens on January 7, 2013; and 2 brothers: George Wrezinski and Bernard Wrezinski.
