LAWRENCE B. WINK, SR., age 82, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Gutowski, Steve Foster, Norm Ligenza, Marvin Hodorowski, Donald Hodorowski and John Barna. Visitation will be held at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm, with a 7:30pm rosary service. Visitation will also be held at the church, on Wednesday, from 10am until time of service.
Lawrence Bernard Wink was born in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, on September 11, 1932, the son Albert and Elizabeth (Keller) Wink. He was raised on the family farm and educated at area schools. After completing his education, Lawrence continued to work on the family farm. Lawrence purchased the farm from his parents in July 1962, which he operated until his retirement in 2007. He was united in marriage to Delores E. Markowski on June 5, 1965 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.
He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, farming and taking care of his animals. Lawrence was a kind-hearted man, always willing to help others when needed.
Lawrence was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #4634.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Delores, of Thorp; 4 children: Theresa Wink of Abbotsford, Laureen "Laurie" (Steve) Foster of Stanley, Lawrence A. "Larry" Wink, Jr. of Thorp, Jerry Wink (fiance Roxann Knez) of Stanley; 5 grandchildren: Lindsay Bill, Tiffany Bill, Stephanie Bill, Jared Wink and RJ Wink; 3 sisters: Amelia "Mitzie" Hodorowski of Thorp, Margaret "Margie" Chemerye of Milwaukee, ElizabethBetty Spaeth of Chippewa Falls; 1 brother: Albert (Arleen) Wink of Marshfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother: Anthony Wink, and 5 sisters: Bertha Pawlak, Mary Welciek, Cecelia Orzechowski, Edith Chmelik and Josephine Hodorowski.
