Peter Paul Depa was born on the family farm in the town of Taft, rural Thorp, on June 7, 1932, the son of Paul and Anna (Posda) Depa. Peter attended Thorp High School, but left to farm full time upon the unfortunate death of his father. Peter married Margaret Schreier on October 15, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Edson, and later raised their four children. After her death on October 13, 1989, Peter found love again and married Alvina (Hera) Nezda-Swatzina July 3, 1993 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp.
He was a farmer to the core. Even when he retired from milking cows, he continued to grow amazing floral gardens and his Good Friday potatoes. He enjoyed polka music, woodworking, traveling, fishing, and hunting with his family. He was a fourth degree member of the Thorp Knights of Columbus Queen of Peace Council #4634, and was the financial secretary and trustee of St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church, in Junction, for many years. His smile and quick wit will be greatly missed by many.
