Full Obituary
IRIS S. FURMAN, age 87, of Loyal, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate and burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Duane Steffen, Jeff Griesbach, Cassius Griesbach, Jim Froeba, Darrell Laschen and Keevin Peuse. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 10am until time of service. Iris Sylvia Steffen was born in Town of Beaver, Clark County, WI on April 21, 1927, a daughter of Lena (Hahn) and Emil Steffen. She was raised on the family farm, received her elementary education in country schools, and graduated from Loyal High School in 1945. Iris then attended Medford Normal School where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught school for 8 years in the Clark County area, before her marriage to Orlo L. Furman on November 1, 1957 in Marshfield. Iris raised a family and farmed with her husband one mile south of Loyal. After her husband's death on June 9, 1992, Iris continued to live on the farm until the time of her death. She had many interests, but especially loved going to the casino, flowers, gardening and yardwork. Iris is survived by her twin children: Mary (Darrell) Laschen and Randy Furman, both of Loyal; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orlo; 6 sisters: Helen Schuh, Irene Wittlinger, Eulalia Steffen, Rose Dumler, Caroline Boettcher, Alaire Hallowell; and 2 brothers: Emil and Harry Steffen.
