CONNIE G. IRISH, age 66, of Willard, WI, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at House of the Dove in Marshfield. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp, WI from 5pm - 8pm. Burial of cremains will be held in the Town of Butler Cemetery, rural Thorp, at a later date.
Connie Gail Conklin was born on August 26, 1948 in the Town of Butler, rural Thorp, to Jack and Winifred Conklin. She was raised on the family farm and was educated at area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1966. Connie was united in marriage to Edward J. Irish on April 27, 1968 at the Thorp United Methodist Church. Over the years, Connie worked as a Medical Assistant for Dr. James Connolly in Thorp, Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, and the Marshfield Clinic facilities in Stanley and Chippewa Falls, until retiring in June 2009. After retiring, Connie moved to her lake home at Rock Dam where she resided until her death.
Connie had many interests, but she especially enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years, camping, ATVing, cooking, and having fun with her family. She was a member of the Rock Dam Rod & Gun Club, Rock Dam Riders ATV Club, the Red Hat Society, and spent over 10 years volunteering on the Cadott Community Ambulance as an EMT.
Connie is survived by her husband: Edward J. Irish of Willard; 3 children: Edward (Cindy) Irish, Jr. of Cadott, Angie (Josh) Poehls of Cadott, and Ryan (Amy) Irish of Cadott; 6 grandchildren: Jeff, Erika, Kelly, Matt, Kamryn, and Brayden; and 1 great-grandchild: Rory. She is further survived by 2 brothers: Les (Amy) Conklin of Anaheim, CA, and Jack Conklin of Orlando, FL; 2 sisters: Lila (George) Reed of Hurley, WI, and Judy Kesler of Detroit, MI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
