GEORGE P. TARTER, age 75, of Marshfield, WI, formerly of Loyal, WI, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at House of the Dove, in Marshfield. Visitation will begin at 10 am with a memorial service to be held at 11am and additional visitation afterwards on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the Lutheran Cemetery, in Loyal, at a later date. George Pittman Tarter was born in Gilpin, KY on October 14, 1938, a son of the late Patricia Lucille (Pittman) and Ansel Tarter. He was raised in Casey County, KY and received his education at Middleburg High School. After completing school, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While in the navy, he met Maxine Haslow, and they were united in marriage on February 28, 1959 in Patuxent River, Maryland. After his discharge from the navy, they lived in Washington, DC where he drove a street car. They later lived in Cincinnati, OH for a short time, where George drove a truck, delivering supplies for a chemical company. After a trip to Loyal, WI to visit family, they decided to move to Loyal to raise their family. George worked at Rollohome, Randt's cheese factory, and then at Felker Brothers as a welder, before hauling milk part-time for Mike Kryzanski in Thorp. He later bought a truck and part of Mike's milk route and started his own milk hauling business. George hauled milk for 25 years for Morning Glory Farms and later Foremost Dairy. After selling his milk route, he continued with Foremost Dairy, as a field rep, for 20 years. In his spare time George had many interests, but especially enjoyed motorcycling, working with small engines, general tinkering with machines and anything involving tires and gasoline. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Marshfield; 4 sons: David (Sandra) Tarter of Knapp, WI, Richard Tarter (Kristine Tarter), both of Marshfield, Patrick (Karan) Tarter of Somerset, WI, William (Charlotte) Tarter of Edgar, WI; 11 grandchildren: Alexis, Colton, Joseph, Samuel, Emma, Derrek, Jessica, Taiyah, Calvin, Blake and Jade; one brother: David (Faye) Tarter of Cincinnati, OH; one sister: Gail (Charles) Sharp of Danville, KY; one niece: Kim (Mike) Rucker; 3 nephews: Tim (Jane) Sharp, Jon (Kimi) Sharp, Ben (Stacey) Sharp; 3 great nieces; 4 great nephews; 2 sisters-in-law: Janet (Walter) Hoover of Loyal, and their son, Terry (Maxine) Hoover, Nancy Rybka of Tacoma, WA, and her children, Sara (Kiel) Grabenhorst and Peter Rybka; 2 brothers-in-law: Randy (Rachelle) Haslow of Greenwood, and their children, Paul (Stacey) Haslow, Jenell (Bob) Lewis, and Jacob Haslow, Edward (Karen) Haslow of Cleveland, OH and their children, Ben (Alana) Haslow, Jason (Rachel) Haslow, and Jessica (Chris) Dlugolinski; other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew; Nick Sharp; one brother-in-law: John Rybka, and two close, dear friends; Mike and Delores Kryzanski of Thorp, WI.
