Glenn Merlyn Horn was born in Greenwood, WI on July 24, 1928, a son of the late Ida (Ebert) and Otto Horn. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at area schools. After completing his education, Glenn took over the family farm. In 1960, he moved to Thorp and built the Bel-Aire Motel, which he operated until 1984. In addition to owning the motel, Glenn also drove school bus for Rosemeyer Bus Service, drove dump truck for Dave Haas Inc., and later worked for the State of Wisconsin as a traffic counter. In 1984, Glenn and Jeanette sold the motel and bought the Dean Hubbard dairy farm. He was active on the farm helping with chores and driving tractor until 2013.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed driving tractor on the farm, collecting toy tractors, bowling and playing pool, coin collecting, watching birds, and was a huge Minnesota Twins fan.
He was a lifetime member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, a former member of the Thorp Moose Lodge, and served as Treasurer on the Clark Electric Board of Directors for several years.
Glenn is survived by two daughters: Candace (Don) Cook of Warrens, WI / Mesa, AZ; Linda Horn (special friend Jim Brost) of Sheboygan, WI; three sons: Frank (Elaine) Horn of Thorp, WI; Randy (Connie) Horn, of Thorp, WI; and Howie Horn of Poynette, WI; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanette, on October 26, 2010; his son, Glenn W. Horn on May 16, 1971; his brother: Harold Horn; and his sister: Lorinda Wessel.
