MARTHA E. DUX, age 95, of Loyal, WI, died at the Marshfield Care Center on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate and burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Tanya Wilke, Sonia Suda, Jennifer Micksch, Kimberly Smith, Lisa Hanson, and Denise VanderKooy. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons: Todd Rohde, Shannon Rohde, Jeffery Counard and Jason Dux. Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Martha Elizabeth Noeldner was born on September 12, 1918 in the Town of Loyal, rural Greenwood, the daughter of Ernst and Margaret (Haessig) Noeldner. She was raised on the family farm, received her education at Seidelman School, attended Loyal High School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1936. Martha attended the Teacher's College, in Neillsville, and graduated in 1937. She then worked as a substitute teacher in Clark County area schools, until 1946. Martha was united in marriage to Erwin H. Dux on June 12, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Loyal. She and her husband farmed until 1975 and then moved into Loyal. Martha went to work at Kehrberg's Variety Store, in Loyal, until its closing in 1991. In their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States, including, Alaska, Hawaii, California, the Smokey Mountains and Niagara Falls. Her husband, Erwin, died on September 17, 1996. Martha continued living in Loyal until the time of her death.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, was active in Adult Fellowship and the TLCW for many years, and was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dancing Club and a member of the Clark County Homemakers.
She had many interests, but especially loved her church, spending time with family and friends, singing, square dancing, gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, and writing poetry.
Martha will be dearly missed by her children: Marjorie (Richard) Rohde of Greenwood, Robert (Sue) Dux of Marshfield, Sharon (Darrel) Counard of Richfield, Dennis Dux of Loyal; 10 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; one sister: Laura Dux of Abbotsford; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; 2 sisters: Meta McCann and Emma Rottjer; and 4 brothers: Norbert, Erwin, Herman and Leonard Noeldner.
