ROBERT E. CLINTSMAN, Sr., age 81, of Greenwood, died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, with his family at his bedside. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Patsy Roe will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Bob's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, on Thursday, from 9am until time of service.
Robert Eugene Clintsman was born on April 22, 1932 in Madison, WI, the son of Floyd and Helen (Moore) Clintsman. He was raised on the family farm near Greenwood and received his education at Hemlock School and Greenwood High School. After completing his education, Bob farmed and trucked with his dad until his marriage to Eleanor Tyrrell on November 15, 1952 at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. He drove truck, hauling milk and cattle for several years, until becoming employed with the Loyal School District as a janitor for 19 years. In 1987, Bob went back to driving truck, with his wife Eleanor, for G.H. Miller in Wisconsin Rapids, until retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and horse pulls.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Eleanor, of Greenwood; his children: Roxane (Mike) Purgett of Greenwood, Dennis Clintsman of Mt. Shasta, CA, Diane (James) Zimmerman of Janesville, Nancy (Jared) Ashland of Appleton; 8 grandchildren: Melissa, Michael, Kristine, Kimberly, Caryn, Ben, Chelsea and Carrie; 2 step grandchildren: Greg and Michelle; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Robert Jr. in September 2003; and his grandson: David Rakestraw in January 1988.
