Full Obituary

On Friday, September 20, 2013, at the age of 60, Steven J. Bushman moved on from this world.
Steve's journey began April 1, 1953, born to parents Dorothy (Stowe) and Aloysius Bushman. He grew up just outside Greenwood, WI, and spent his days roaming the fields and woods, telling jokes, and farming with his dad.
Steve grew up to be a man of many hats, though he preferred his camo fleece or blaze orange ones the most. After graduating in 1971 from Greenwood High School, he briefly tried his hand at farming. Then for a short period he worked as a scale technician at Toledo Scale for his late uncle Mel. Eventually Steve was drawn back to Greenwood, where fate led him to the beautiful woman he was destined to marry. Connie (Bauer) and Steve's courtship blossomed and bloomed quickly, and on July 7, 1979, the lovebirds were wed. Soon after the nuptials, Steve took to the woods as a logger, and spent what time he wasn't in the woods playing softball. After a brief stint as a pipeline technician at Greenwood Co-op, Steve decided to trade in his work clothes for a suit and became a real estate agent for Century 21. Steve and Connie soon embraced the pitter-patter of little feet as Brett, Matt, and Becky came along to complete the Bushman clan. Moving his family to the country, Steve focused his energy on transforming a small older farm into a beautiful homestead. Steve later turned his expertise towards real estate appraising, a career he pursued for the rest of his days.
Steve was never one for sitting still. He was always happiest doing something, and would usually try to fix something anywhere he went, usually multiple somethings. From building roads to planting his apple trees, Steve took pride in everything he did. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing on the Great Lakes and in Canada. He sang in the church choir and was an active member of his religious community. His true joy in life, though, was his family, who he was always there for to provide love and help.
Steve is survived by his wife, Connie; children: Brett (Katie Mell) of Eau Claire, Matthew of Eau Claire, and Rebecca of Greenwood; grandchild: Adalee; mother: Dorothy of Greenwood; siblings: Patricia (Dennis) Bogdonovich of Greenwood, Theresa (Brad) Bauschek of Port Washington, Joan (Hugh) Christie of Greenwood, Marcia (Kevin) Duell of Loyal, Edward (Sharon) of Grafton, and Susan (Bill) Kurasz of Dubois, WY; several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aloysius; and nephew, Adam Christie.
A wake will be held Tuesday, September 24th from 4 pm to 8 pm at St. Mary's Church in Greenwood. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 25th at 11 am at St. Mary's Church, with visitation beforehand from 9:30-10:45 am. Rev. Joseph Follmar and Rev. Steve Brice will concelebrate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Steve's nephews will serve as pallbearers. Lunch will be provided following the service. A memorial will be designated in Steve's name at a later date.
