Full Obituary

HELEN G. KOSTICK, age 99, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health & Rehab, in Thorp, on Friday, August 16, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin. Rev. Ted Wojcik will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Janik, Mike Rapp, George Rapp, Dan Stevens, Roger Kostick and Rodney Nowak. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Helen Genevieve Galarowicz was born on March 4, 1914 in Lublin, WI, the daughter of Anton and Regina (Ciezopka) Galarowicz. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in Lublin. Helen was united in marriage to George Kostick on February 12, 1935 at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin. She farmed with her husband until the 1980's. After selling the farm, Helen resided in their home until entering Oakbrook Health & Rehab in October 2009.
In her spare time, Helen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening, canning and raising flowers.
She was a member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church for many years.
She is survived by her sister-in-law: Minnie Galarowicz of Lublin; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on November 13, 1990; one daughter, Mary, on July 4, 1936; one brother: Edward Galarowicz; and three sisters: Rose Paremba, Anna Galarowicz and Mary Janik.
