Full Obituary

JOYCE E. MEAD, age 81, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Titusville, FL and Loyal, WI, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Vitas Hospice Home in San Antonio, TX. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Loyal. Rev. Rob Love will officiate and burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, on Monday, from 10am until time of service.
Joyce Elaine Lavandowska was born on October 22, 1931 in Clark County, WI, the daughter of Helmuth and Vera (Rollins) Lavandowska. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1949. Joyce was united in marriage to James Mead on June 22, 1950. They farmed in Clark County for a few years before moving to Miami, FL, where she worked as a bookkeeper. After moving to Central Florida, Joyce trucked with her husband for a few years. They later divorced. She lived in Titusville, FL for many years and worked at Wal-Mart for more than 25 years, where she met Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart. After retiring, Joyce continued to live in Titusville, where she was active in her church and enjoyed her friends. She later moved to San Antonio, TX to be closer to her daughter, Lisa.
She will be dearly missed by her three children: Lynda (John) Kimbrough of Kennewick, WA, John (Vivian) Mead of Rockmart, GA, Lisa (Greg) Stai of San Antonio, TX; three grandsons: Bryan Davis, Gary and Michael Mead; and two great granddaughters: Ashlee and Crysten Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: LeRoy Lavandowska.
