Harry D. Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026 at The Waterford of Colby.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood, WI, with full military rights given by Wallace-Hinker-Brux Post 238.  Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery following the service.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood, WI from 4pm to 8pm, and again on Friday from 9am until the time of service.

     Harry Day Johnson was born on February 27, 1941 to Leonard and Lois (Cole) Johnson in Greenwood, WI.  He spent his formative years growing up in Greenwood, WI and attended Greenwood High School, where he graduated with the class of 1959.  Following graduation, he started working at the Co-op and continued to work there until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1963.  He was stationed in Korea and held the rank of Specialist 4th Class, 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry.  Most of his time was spent patrolling the Demilitarized Zone until 1965.  After leaving the Army, he came back to Greenwood and worked at the Co-op until leaving to attend Lineman School at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI.  Following his completion of school, he began to work at Clark Electric in Greenwood as a lineman.  He eventually became Line Superintendent, and held that position until his retirement in February, 2004.

     On September 17, 1966, he married Eleanor B. Noeldner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal WI. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2026.  They were blessed with four children; Scott, Lisa, Kristin, and Sara.

     Throughout his years in Greenwood, he was very involved in the community.  He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood since 1966 and held the position of Head Usher for many years until 2019.  Upon his return from Korea, he joined the Greenwood Lions Club as well as the American Legion, where he held the position of Adjutant for 43 years.  He proudly sang baritone in the Clark County Male Chorus from 1966 until 2019 and enjoyed their trips for Big Sings.  He had a passion for softball and for many years he played Left Field with a Greenwood Softball League and eventually joined a Senior Softball League.  He chose to quit playing in 2010, to spend more time with his grandchildren.

     In his free time, Harry spent as much time as he could fishing and hunting with his family and friends, as well as making maple syrup.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time at the hunting cabin.  He especially enjoyed sharing that passion with his children and grandchildren.

     He will be dearly missed by his wife, Eleanor of Greenwood, WI; his four children, Scott (Michelle) of Greenwood, WI, Lisa (Jim) of Weston, WI, Kristin (Coy) of Boulder Junction, WI, and Sara of Altoona, WI; twelve grandchildren, Brettain (Kaity), Kirkland (Skyla), Madeline (Buck), Korinna, Braelynn, Makiya, Sharissa (Jake), Jakob, Lukas, Allison (Adam), Arin (Brian), Anika (RJ); five great-grandchildren, Ryker, Thea, Prudence, Jude, and Lucille, with number six due soon; his siblings, Vera Prust, Dale (Ginny), Sam (Sharon), and Ray; his in-laws, June Noeldner, Barb Noeldner, Brenda Noah, Edward (Kris) Noeldner, Gordie Noeldner, and Randy (Karen) Noeldner, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lois Johnson, his in-laws, Herman and Lucille Noeldner, his sister-in-law, Diane Johnson, and his brothers-in-law Butch Prust, Nathan Noeldner, Donald Noeldner, and Al Noah.
