A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, July 20, 2026 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Lublin, WI.

     GERALDINE D. SZEMRAJ, age 79, of Altoona, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, WI.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, July 20, 2026 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Lublin, WI, with Rev. Marion Talaga officiating.

     Geraldine Dorothy Szemraj was born on November 1, 1946 in Stanley, WI, the daughter of Walter "Wally" and Lucille (Kostick) Szemraj.  She was raised in the Thorp area, received her education at Pineland School, and graduated from Thorp High School in 1964.  After high school, Geraldine worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Thorp, and then at the North Star Motel for several years amongst various other jobs.

     In her spare time, she loved working in her flower gardens, doing latch hook, feeding the birds, especially the crows, and was a huge Brewers & Packers fan.

     She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Renee (Bill) Voelker of Kronenwetter, WI.

     Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Kathleen Taulu.

     Her family would like to thank the staff at Bridge to Independence for their loving care and compassion given to her over the years that she resided with them.
