DOUGLAS V. SEVERSON, age 92, of Withee, WI, journeyed into eternal life on Saturday, June 20, 2026 with family by his side.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood, WI, with Pastor Asafa Rajaofera officiating.  Graveside services to follow at the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Genevieve Severson, Andrew Vine, Weston Vine, Dale Severson, Rick Severson, and David Acker.
Douglas Vern Severson was born June 4, 1934 to Vern A. and Luella A. (Stabnow) Severson.  He grew up on the family farm in Greenwood, just down the road from the love of his life Elaine Worden.  Growing up, Douglas enjoyed the outdoors alongside his siblings Lester, Vera, Ethel, and Alice.  He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1958, and was united in marriage to Elaine on July 1, 1962 in Wausau, WI.  After his honorable discharge in 1963, they started their life together in Illinois, where they had two children; Cherri and Keith.  He drove semi and trucked cattle all over the United States.
Douglas spent over 40 years as a dedicated Lead Operating Engineer until retiring in 1998.  He and Elaine then moved back to Wisconsin, settling down in Withee, where they got to spend more time with Cherri and granddaughter Melissa.  Even though Douglas was "retired" he was always busy.  He began helping Bob Rueth, Robert Rueth Excavating in Loyal, a job he really enjoyed.  He truly had a passion for operating large equipment.
Together Douglas and Elaine enjoyed spending time at their farm in Greenwood with their miniature ponies and donkeys, and at their cabin down in the woods.  He looked forward to hunting every fall with Keith, a bond they shared until the very end.  Douglas got to see his granddaughter, Genevieve, get her first big buck last fall, a family bond carrying on, making him so proud.
Douglas had two granddaughters: Melissa and Genevieve.  Douglas and Melissa had an inseparable bond from breakfast and ice cream dates, to daily farm visits, and much more.  Even up until the end, Douglas was able to come down to the farm and sit on the deck and watch the deer with Melissa and her family.  Douglas and Elaine had three great-grandchildren from Melissa and her husband Andy: Weston, Payson, and Calvin.  They cherished spending time with them and attended any and everything they could to watch them: from watching the kids show at the fair, school concerts, and more.
He had many interests including, going to horse sales with Cherri, hunting, fishing, westerns, faith and family, and his convertible cars, which he had multiple, and he really enjoyed phone call visits with his sister, Alice, of Crystal Lake, IL.  He had a heart of gold and was a blessing to everyone that knew him.
Douglas was a member of the Owen- Withee Lions Club, where he helped with bingo, fishing contests and more.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Cherri (Al) Bey, his son, Keith (Dana) Severson; his granddaughters: Melissa (Andy) Vine, and Genevieve Severson; three great-grandchildren: Weston, Payson, and Calvin Vine; one sister, Alice Scott of Crystal Lake, Il; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, of nearly 63 years, who passed April 19, 2025; his parents; his siblings: Lester Severson, Vera Heck, and Ethel Thomas; his mother and father-in-law: Earl and Susan Worden; and brother-in-law: Gordon Worden.
