Full Obituary
JOYCE M. SLOWATYNIEC, age 81, of Neenah, WI, formerly of Stanley, WI, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp. Leahanna Krizan will officiate and burial will follow in Eidsvold Cemetery, rural Stanley, WI. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Saturday, from 9am until time of service.
Joyce Marie Lane was born on September 7, 1944 in Wabasha, MN, the daughter of Fred D. and Laura C. (Mock) Lane. As a young child, Joyce's family moved to the Stanley/Boyd, WI area, where she received her education, graduating from Stanley/Boyd High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Theodore J. Slowatyniec on September 10, 1962 in Neillsville, WI. They moved to Menasha, WI where she held various small jobs while raising her children, before moving to Neenah in April 1969. Joyce began working as a nurse’s assistant at Theda-Clark Regional Hospital in 1970, where she remained until retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, helping take care of her grandchildren, and visiting her siblings.
Joyce had many interests, including; deer hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, raising flowers, taking casino trips, and attending the HODAG Country Music Festival in Rhinelander, WI.
She will be dearly missed by her three sons: Frank Slowatyniec, Mike (Lois) Slowatyniec, John (Roxanne) Slowatyniec, all of Neenah; five grandchildren: Autumn (Kevin) Warning, Robert (Lea) Brendemihl, Becky Hansen, Devon Slowatyniec, Isabel Slowatyniec; four great-grandchildren: Brayden and Kenley Brendemihl, Austin Howard, and Grace Warning; one sister, Beverly (Bill) Abramczak of Thorp, WI; one brother-in-law, Don Giwojna of Luttrell, TN; four sisters-in-law: Kim Lane of Thorp, WI, Barb Lane of Thorp, WI, Pearl Tomkowiak of Stanley, WI and Cindy Lane of Stanley, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted, on September 10, 2019; one great-grandson: Christopher Howard; six brothers: Johnny, James, Edward, Steven, Robert, and Donald Lane; two sisters: Patsy Hazuga and Carol Giwojna.
