Full Obituary KALVIN STUNER, age 77, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Aspirus Stanley Hospital in Stanley, WI. Per Kalvin's wishes, no services will be held at this time.
Kalvin Stuner was born on May 12, 1949 in Ladysmith, WI, the son of Victor J. and Katherine V. (Trester) Stuner. He was raised on the family farm in Jump River, WI, and attended Gilman area schools, graduating from Gilman High School in 1967. After completing high school, Kalvin moved to Waukesha, WI and worked as a machinist for Wisconsin Centrifugal. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 10, 1968, and served in Vietnam from July 1969 to July 1970. He returned home and was united in marriage to Sharon M. Ogurek on October 21, 1970 in Medford, WI. They moved to Fairbanks, AK where he served out his enlistment, receiving his honorable discharge on October 28, 1971. He returned to his job at Wisconsin Centrifugal in Waukesha, WI until taking over the Ogurek family farm in 1976. Kalvin farmed until 2000, at which time he sold his cows, and went to work for Gary Losiewicz driving milk truck for 12 years. He also started an excavating business in 2005 with his son, Jason, which he did until his decline in health.
Kalvin loved being outdoors and spent many hours on his bulldozer, backhoe, and skid steer doing excavating work. He also enjoyed fixing equipment in his shop for himself and others.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing cucumbers in his garden and canning pickles, and especially loved spending time with his family, attending his grandkids ball games, and was always available to pull his grandkids out of mud holes when they were stuck with the 4-wheeler. Kalvin also helped make and wrap bundles of firewood with his grandkids to sell. He was also an excellent cook, and was known to serve the best cottage cheese pancakes that his grandkids couldn't get enough of.
Kalvin will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, of Thorp; his children: Jenny Stuner (fiancé Bret VanBlaircom) of River Falls, WI, Jason (Wendy) Stuner of Thorp; six grandchildren: Kalvin and Kaden Knox; Jacob, Scarlett, Mayland and Benji Stuner; one sister, Karen Tuma, of Ladysmith, WI; five brothers: Jim Stuner, Mark Stuner and Darrel (Pam) Stuner, all of Jump River, WI, Brian Stuner of Hannibal, WI, and Dale (Rosemary) Stuner of Ladysmith, WI; one brother-in-law, Bob (Cindy) Ogurek of Thorp; four sisters-in-law: Shirley Evrard of Ashland, WI, Barb Ogurek of Eagan, MN, Debbie (Jim) Kinas of Giddings, TX, and Donna (Don) Rosiejka of Hudson, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
