Full Obituary

     JEANETTE S. VAN ERT, age 92, of Thorp, WI, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
     Jeanette S. Kozial was born on December 1, 1933 in Ladysmith, WI, to Jacob F. and Apolanya P. (Wojcik) Kozial, and was raised on their family farm in Sheldon, WI.  She was united in marriage to Gerald A. Van Ert on June 4, 1955.  Together, they raised a family of six children while owning and operating a business.
     Jeanette was a hardworking, intelligent, patient, fun-loving, and deeply caring woman.  She will forever be cherished as an amazing cook, an accomplished gardener, and the selfless, supportive cornerstone of her family.
     Jeanette’s home was her happy place.  She welcomed everyone with a warm smile, an open heart, and—if you were lucky—something freshly baked.  Her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will carry her loving spirit through many generations to come.
     Jeanette is survived by her husband Gerald; her children, Brian, Janine, Marcy, Yvonne and Lynette; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters: Joe, Frank, Johnny, Ed, Anna, Helen, Francie, Nellie, and Vicky.
     A memorial mass to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp, with Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until time of service.
