BEVERLY A. BENZSCHAWEL, age 89, of Thorp, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Sunlight Senior Living in Thorp, WI.
Beverly Ann Mickett was born on December 5, 1935, in rural Greenwood, WI to William and Mary (Bolf) Mickett. She grew up surrounded by the simple joys of country life, the love of her family, and the values that would shape her generous and steadfast heart. After completing her education, she married the love of her life, Eugene Benzschawel, on May 24, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Together they built a life grounded in faith, and a deep commitment to family and community.
Among her many accomplishments, Beverly co-operated the family farm in rural Thorp for many years, working side by side with Eugene through every season of life. She shared her talents and warm spirit at Thorp Finance and Thorp Catholic School, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Yet of everything she achieved, Beverly’s greatest and most cherished role was that of mother. She poured her heart into raising her six children, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and the comforting scent of something cooking on the stove.
Beverly is lovingly remembered by her children: Gary (Lynette) Benzschawel of Bayfield, WI, Terry (Carole) Benzschawel of Mosinee, WI, Dean (Lois) Benzschawel of Thorp, WI, Dawn (Frank) Wadzinski of Poynette, WI, Kevin (Audrey) Benzschawel of Mosinee, WI, and Julie (Stephen) Flikke of Hudson, WI.
She treasured every moment spent with her 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, her extended family, and the many friends who brightened her days.
Beverly is also survived by her siblings Alice Benzschawel of Thorp, William (Mildred) Mickett of Stanley, and Robert Mickett of Greenwood. She was welcomed into eternal life by her beloved husband Eugene, her parents, and her sister, Dorothy (Mickett) Piont.
Beverly’s gentle presence, her warm smile, and her deep love for others defined her life. She delighted in cooking, sewing, crafting, and especially in the simple joy of being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved—an enduring gift that will be dearly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Sunlight Senior Living for the loving care and kindness shown to Beverly in her final years. We are deeply grateful for the compassion they offered during her last months, and for the wonderful friends she has there—friends she cherished and whom we have also grown to love.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with those who went before her, wrapped in God’s eternal peace. Beverly leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in every heart she touched.
