There will be a Celebration of Life for Mark held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Thorp Fire Hall from 3pm to 8pm.

     MARK E. SWARTOUT, age 63, of Thorp, WI, passed away at home on Sunday, November 9, 2025.  A Celebration of Life for Mark will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Thorp Fire Hall from 3pm to 8pm.

     Mark Edward Swartout was born on March 21, 1962 in Beloit, WI, the son of Edward G. and Diana J. (Rudolph) Swartout.  He was raised and received his education in Beloit, graduating from Beloit High School in 1980.  After graduation, Mark enlisted into the U.S. Army, and served four years with the 82nd Airborne Division.  After his honorable discharge, he worked as a machinist at the Regal Company in Beloit.  Mark later purchased a restaurant in Madison, WI, which he operated until purchasing Skewers Bar in Phillips, WI.  He also worked at Jeld-Wen Windows in Hawkins, WI, while managing the bar.  Mark eventually became employed with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, first working at the Stanley, WI facility, and retiring after 18 years working at the Flambeau facility.

     He had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

     Mark is survived by his girlfriend, Jennifer Koltis, of Thorp; his son, Travis Prince-Swartout, of Suamico, WI; his father, Edward G. Swartout, of Minocqua, WI; his sister, Shelley (Gregg) Parker, of Appleton, WI; and two nephews: Viktor and Kamil Parker.

     He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana J. Swartout, on July 24, 2025; one niece, Haili Parker; and one nephew, Devyn Parker.
