DANIEL C. "DANNY" BERTZ, age 54, of Wausau, WI, passed away after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer, on Thursday, September 18, 2025.  A Celebration of Life in honor of Dan will be held on Saturday, October, 11, 2025 at the Loyal Sportsman's Club from 1pm to 5pm.
Daniel Charles Bertz was born on January 16, 1971 in Neillsville, WI, to Robert R. and Joan D. (Ayers) Bertz.  He was raised and received his education in Loyal, WI, graduating from Loyal High School in 1989.  Dan was a highly skilled carpenter, working most of his life in construction, the last 16 years with JAS Construction in Wausau.
Dan had an adventurous side at one time; solo flying a plane, going skydiving, and was on a hot air balloon crew.  He had a love for cooking and was typically in charge of the main course for holiday celebrations with family in Loyal.  Dan enjoyed rock music, visiting the ocean, hiking Wild Cat Mound, and especially loved spending time with his family and his close friends.  His fondness of German Shepherds led him to take in rescues, and he provided Buck, Sadie, and Bailey the best home a dog could ever want.
Over the past month, Danny was surrounded by his close family and friends with loving care, laughter, fond memories, and fun stories.  His family can't express enough how much they will treasure spending that time with him.
Dan will be dearly missed by his mother, Joan, of Loyal, WI; his siblings: Kathy (Ken) Seehafer of River Falls, WI, Tony (Tammy) Bertz of Hayward, WI, Ben (Becky) Bertz of Champlin, MN, Matt (Tami) Bertz of Eau Claire, WI, Sarah Geiger of  Loyal, WI, Maxine (Kent) Kramer of Holmen, WI; three nieces: Alisha Seehafer (Calvin Love), Teah (Luke) Morrow, and Rachel Priebe (Mitch Zastrow); four nephews: Zachary (Sasha) Bertz, Nicholas Seehafer, Dylan (Rachel) Geiger, and Christopher Priebe; two great nieces and nephews: Lennox and Wes Morrow, Hudson and Tilly Bertz.  He will be greatly missed by his high school buddies, his Wausau friends, and his work family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Bob" Bertz, on April 14, 2018; brother-in-law, Brian Geiger, on October 18, 2022; and his close friend, Tiffany Tetting, on July 25, 2018.
