RICHARD L. "DICK" FITZL, SR., 83, of Loyal, WI, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 24, 2025.  Funeral services will be held July 12, 2025 at Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, WI at 12:00pm with visitation from 10:00am until time of service.  Pastor Geoff Smith will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.
Dick was born on March 9, 1942, to John and Margaret (Johnson) Fitzl.  After attending school in the Greenwood area, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served from 1961 to 1963.  He did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and was then stationed in Germany for the remainder of his enlistment.  He married Kathee (Noah) on August 15, 1964, and together, along with their children, farmed for many years.  After selling the farm, Dick continued his hardworking ways at various jobs including the Clark County Health Care Center's dairy operation, Grassland Butter and Mid-Am cheese factory.  He then operated his own can milk route and mobile pressure washing business.  But what turned out to be his favorite job of all was the 20 years he spent driving school bus for the school districts of Greenwood and Loyal, something he was able to do until just 4 weeks before his death.
His relentless drive and commitment carried through at home as was evident by his well-kept yard where his homestead made his neighbors “uniquely green” with envy.  During his moments of rest, Dick enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife that frequented his many feeders, as well as fishing, hunting and watching the Packers.  He was very proud of his family and found no greater joy than the time spent with them.  He loved them all greatly and they also loved him.
Dick will be dearly missed by his 3 children: Rick (Kris) Fitzl of Chippewa Falls and their children Hailey and Jordan; Becki (Dean) Bogdonovich of Greenwood and their children Luke, Kole, and Maci; Brian (Ana) Fitzl of Stanley and his children Robbie and Breahna (Logan Schneider) and their mother Shannon (Matt) Fendry of Strum.  He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Kiara, and a future great-grandson.  He is further survived by one sister, Beverly (Edwin) Lloyd; one brother, Dennis (Joyce) Fitzl; sisters-in-law: Fern Fitzl, Ruth Noah, Evelyn Hoffman, Kathi Noah, Arvilla (Bob) Blunck, Arlene Stark; and brother-in-law, Elmer (Jill) Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathee, in 2016; brothers, Milton, and Jimmy and Billy in infancy; and sisters, Marjorie O'Dell and Donna Hammond.
Dick's family would like to thank Tiffany Luckey, PA-C and the staff at Marshfield Clinic Greenwood Center and Compassus Hospice for their excellent care.  They would also like to extend a special thank you to Millie Larson and Leah Kayhart for their compassion and going above and beyond to enable the family to provide the dignity and care needed to help Dick stay in his home until his death.
