Duane David Jaskot, age 70, of Thorp, Wisconsin, passed away on April 27, 2025, at Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center where he has resided for the last 4+ years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp, with Father Stanislaus Michael Antony officiating. Burial will follow at the Old St. Hedwig’s Church Cemetery east of Thorp. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The pallbearers will be his beloved nephews - Mike Troyer, Jason Jaskot, Aaron Lew, Landen Burkhardt, Christopher Jaskot, and Drew Jaskot.
Duane was born on July 17, 1954 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, Wisconsin, to Leonard “Corky” and Blanche Jaskot. He grew up in Thorp, attending St. Hedwig’s Catholic School and graduating from Thorp High School in 1972. He pursued forestry studies for one year at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.
For more than 25 years, Duane worked in the construction industry with Rich Abramczyk, Mike Baehr, and other local contractors in the Thorp area. A devout member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Duane was known for his deep faith, attending Mass regularly and praying the rosary daily. He was a kind and loving person, cherished by all who knew him.
Duane had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and making firewood for heating his home. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed wearing his newly acquired Jordan Love jersey on game day. He delighted in caring for his cat, listening to music, driving around town and to the barn (hunting shack) in his truck, sharing the never forgotten hunting and fishing stories, and spending time with family and friends. In recent years he enjoyed rides away from the CCRLC facility, dining out, and a vanilla swirled cone from A&W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Blanche Jaskot; his grandparents, Walter and Martha Pawlak, and Joseph and Sophia Jaskot; his niece, Michelle Troyer; and his brother-in-law, Rick Troyer.
Duane is survived by his siblings: John Jaskot of New Richmond, WI; Janice Icenhower of Annapolis, MD; Mary Jane Troyer of Boyd, WI; Joe (Marilyn) Jaskot of Thorp. He is further survived by five nieces and nephews: Mike (Michelle) Troyer, Melissa (Dean) Lew, Megan Bitney, Jason (Jenny) Jaskot, and Jennifer (Joey) Burkhardt; as well as 16 great-nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
