Full Obituary
DEWEY J. MCINTIRE, age 66, of Thorp, WI, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael McIntire, Gustav McIntire, Callahan McIntire, Jason Aken, Caden Koepl, and Charlie Milliren. Military rites will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9am until time of service.
Dewey James McIntire was born on October 30, 1958 in Lorain, OH, to John A. and Denise M. (Lenzen) McIntire. He was raised and received his education in Lorain, OH until his family moved to Abbotsford, WI in 1975, graduating from Abbotsford High School in 1976. Dewey entered the U.S. Army and served for several years before his honorable discharge, and then was a recruiter for the Wisconsin Army National Guard until 1994. After his discharge, he returned to Stanley, WI where he was a contracted mail carrier, transporting mail from the Twin Cities to Stanley. Dewey was united in marriage to Mary Sczypiorski on June 1, 1985 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanley. They later divorced. In the mid-1990's, he attended Mt. Scenario College in Ladysmith, WI, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. Dewey continued to transport mail until the early 2000's, when he retired due to poor health.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycle, camping, and coaching youth baseball and basketball.
Dewey will be dearly missed by three daughters: Katie (Marty) Kroeplin of Thorp, Holly McIntire of Stanley, and Allie (Cody) Oemig of Cornell, WI; nine grandchildren: Brett, Caden, Calli, Avery, Audrey, Amelia, Marly, Brody and Mia; his mother, Denise McIntire, of Independence, WI; six siblings: Christopher McIntire of Hammond, IN, James (Karla) McIntire of Hamilton, MT, Judy Aken of Thorp, Jill McIntire (Todd Kohnen) of Independence, WI, Michael (Sara) McIntire of Rosemont, MN, and Joseph McIntire of Thorp; two sisters-in-law: Theresa McIntire of Lorain, OH, and Jane McIntire of Thorp; one brother-in-law, Robert Briski, of Thorp; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers: Martin and John; one sister, Anne Briski; brother-in-law, Dennis Aken; and one niece, Cassandra McIntire.
