Chester “Chet” Przybylski Jr., 69, of Stevens Point, WI, passed away peacefully in his home in the early morning hours of February 23, 2025, with his loving wife, Mary, by his side. Born on April 22, 1955, to Chester and Caroline (Digoski) Przybylski, Chet’s life was one of deep faith, family devotion, hard work, and a passion for the simple joys of life.
Chet was a proud graduate of St. Hedwig’s Grade School (1969), Thorp High School (1973), and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (1978), where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. His career as a Programmer/Analyst spanned nearly four decades, beginning at ITT Life Insurance (1978–1980) before joining Sentry Insurance, where he dedicated 37 years until his retirement in 2017.
Chet married Terri Burrows and together they raised four wonderful children: Chris Przybylski, Nick (Jen) Przybylski, Amy (Jeremy) Keyzer, and Daniel (Haley) Przybylski. Though their paths later diverged, they remained united in their love for their family.
In 2017, Chet married his soulmate, Mary Lehman. Their love was a true partnership—built on deep respect, unwavering support, and a shared joy for life’s adventures. Together, they found happiness in everyday moments: laughing over supper club dinners, traveling to their favorite places, and simply being by each other’s side. Their love story was one of warmth, kindness, and an unbreakable bond, a connection that will live on eternally. Through their marriage, Chet also gained another son, Trenton (Marissa) Karch, whom he embraced as his own. His blended family brought him immense joy, especially his grandchildren, Scarlett, Eloise, Frank, and two grandbabies due this summer.
Chet is also survived by his brother, Charlie (Lana) Przybylski; his goddaughter, Karla (Nick) Loppnow; many nieces and nephews; and in-laws Louis and Frances Lehman.
A man of unwavering faith and service, Chet dedicated himself to Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point, where he served on the Pastoral Council, as a Eucharistic Minister, Acolyte, and on the Sacred Worship and Picnic Committees. He was also a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Parish in Thorp. His community involvement extended beyond the church, as he played an active role in the Thorp Jaycees and served as President of the Stevens Point Area Jaycees from 1983 to 1984, helping to lead the city’s 125th-anniversary celebrations.
A true Wisconsinite, Chet found joy in fishing, hunting, polka dancing, and cheering on the Packers and Badgers. He never passed up a good church picnic, a tractor pull, or the chance to explore new places, including Arizona, Door County, Wisconsin Dells, Mackinac Island, Wollersheim Winery, and Miami Beach. He had a love for discovering different supper clubs, always in search of the perfect Old Fashioned and Friday night fish fry.
Chet was a proud member of the Rock Dam Rod and Gun Club, where he enjoyed time outdoors and formed lifelong friendships. He was also a beloved part of Kolodziej Hunting Camp, sharing many hunting seasons with his close friends and family. In 2019, his fun-loving personality earned him the title of “Miss Rock Dam,” a distinction he carried with a great sense of humor.
A lifelong John Deere enthusiast, Chet loved working on his property, whether snowplowing, tilling his garden, or maintaining his carefully landscaped yard. His passion extended to collecting 1/16 scale farm tractors and equipment, a tribute to his deep connection to farming. Over the years, he proudly owned several John Deere tractors, including a JD 317, JD X485, JD X728, and JD 1026R—each one a vital part of his well-kept land.
Chet’s life was full of traditions, faith, and the love of family and friends. His memory will live on in the stories shared at family gatherings, in the songs of a polka dance, and in the fields where his tractors once roamed.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the entire Stevens Point Marshfield Oncology team, as well as Chet’s incredible care team at Weston Hospital. Chet often joked that he had his own personal harem of dedicated nurses who kept him in line—though in truth, he adored and appreciated every single one of them. Their compassion, skill, and unwavering care brought him strength and comfort in his final years, and the family will forever be grateful.
Memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Parish (Stevens Point), St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Parish, Thorp Catholic School, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, or Marshfield Clinic Research.
Chet will be deeply missed but never forgotten—his spirit lives on in every sunrise over his favorite fishing spot, every note of polka music, and every field freshly tilled by a John Deere. But most of all, his love will live on in Mary’s heart, a bond that not even time can break.
