Lyla Ruth Thorson was called to her eternal home with her Savior on January 15, 2025, at the age of 89 while residing at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, Wisconsin.
She was born on July 23, 1935, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, to Anton and Adelaide Moe and became a child of God through Christian Baptism on September 1, 1935, at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi.  Lyla confirmed her faith on June 4, 1950.  After graduating from Mondovi High School in 1953, she worked for Northern States Power Co. as a secretary in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Lyla married Ronald Eugene Meyer on June 19, 1954, at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi.  They moved to Libertyville, Illinois, in 1955 where they stayed until they purchased a dairy farm in Loyal, Wisconsin, in 1968.  Together with their four sons, they operated the farm until Ronald’s passing on May 3, 1978.
In Libertyville, Lyla was a night switch board operator at Condell Memorial Hospital.  After farming with her husband, she worked with farm records at Loyal’s Production Credit Association and then as a teller for M & I Bank and Neillsville’s BMO Harris Bank.  Lyla was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching her sons and the Wisconsin Badgers compete.  She was also a line judge for the Loyal volleyball team.
Lyla married Truman Clifford Thorson on August 26, 1995, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, Wisconsin.  Cliff passed away on November 5, 2021.  They enjoyed caring for and showing their horses in local shows as well as driving them in parades.
Lyla was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings and their spouses:  Anton Dutee (Frances and Bernice) Moe and Marguerite (Louis) Heimstead.  Others include her in-laws, Eugene and Esther Meyer, and Truman and Caroline Thorson; brother-in-law, Gerald Meyer; sisters-in-law, Betty Jacobson and Helen Nelson; nephew Michael Moe; and niece Mary Lynn Sturgill.
Survivors include her four sons:  David (Gloria) Meyer of Fond du Lac, WI; Jon Meyer of Marshfield, WI; Robert Meyer of St. Louis, MO; and James (Linda) Meyer of Thorp, WI, and her four grandchildren:  Jennifer (Samuel) Brinkman, Rebekah (Joseph) Scimeca, Shana Anderson, and Jaclyn (Fred) Schuknecht, along with her seven great-grandchildren:  Judah, Ezra, and Luke Brinkman; Amelia and Norman Scimeca; Havannah Gospodinoff, and Linneah Akakpo.  Others include her sisters-in-law, Darlene Meyer, Lucille Ahern, and Lois Johnson; brother-in-law, Dean Thorson; nieces Lou Ann Ray (Art Griffith) and Tami (Paul) McCarthy; nephews Kirk (Peg) Heimstead and Tim Meyer; and her husband Cliff’s three daughters and their families:  Sheila, Sheri, and Sabrina.
The family thanks the staff at Clark County Rehab & Living Center for their care of Lyla.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 23, from 10:00 AM until noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 201 N. West Street, Loyal, Wisconsin.  The funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 12 noon.  The burial will take place on Friday, January 24, at 11:00 AM at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy. 10, Mondovi, Wisconsin.
