IRENE N. BARBY, age 89, of Thorp, WI, formerly of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Per Irene's wishes, no services will be held and inurnment will take place in Palm Eastern Memorial Park in Las Vegas, NV at a later date.
Irene Norma Everson was born on February 18, 1935 in Eau Claire, WI, to Melford J. and Dorothy E. (Anderson) Everson. She was raised and received her education in Eau Claire, graduating from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1953. After high school, she was united in marriage to Richard W. "Dick" Barby on October 23, 1954 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. Irene worked for several attorneys in Eau Claire until they moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1967. She then worked as the personal assistant of the owner of the Imperial Palace. After it was purchased by Harrah's in 2005, she moved to Tunica, MS where she worked at Harrah's until retiring.
She had many interests, but especially loved the casinos, was a fantastic cook, and her pets.
Irene is survived by two brothers: Bruce (Joan) Everson and John Walters (Anna Anton), both of Eau Claire; four sisters: Barbara (Richard) Bergh of International Falls, MN, Carol Bradford of Kansas, MO, Judy Walters of Eau Claire, and Sharon Burt of Austin, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Norma Jean Everson, in infancy.
