Full Obituary

     DOREEN E. DUS, age 74, of Cadott, WI, passed away at Mayo Clinic Health System, in Eau Claire, WI, on Monday, September 9, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, September 16, 2024 at English Lutheran Church of Bateman in the Town of Lafayette, rural Chippewa Falls, WI.  Pastor Justin Arnold will officiate, and burial will follow in Bateman Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Brett Baehr, Michael Gwiazda III, Mathew Gwiazda, James Gwiazda, Nick Gwiazda and Russel Malecki.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30am until time of service.
     Doreen Ellen Gwiazda was born on September 1, 1950 in Chippewa County, WI, to Michael and Marian P. (Wachsmuth) Gwiazda.  She was raised on the family farm near Gilman, WI, and received her education in area schools, graduating from Gilman High School in 1968.  After high school, Doreen worked at Thorp Elementary School, waitressed at the Dairy Bar in Thorp, and was a bartender at the Corner Bar in Thorp.  She then enrolled at Chippewa Valley Technical College and studied to be a medical transcriptionist.  Doreen then worked for Dr. Bowie in Cadott during the early 1990's, before becoming employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls until retiring in 2015.
     During her retirement she had many interests, but her greatest passion was painting, spending time with her family, all kinds of crafting, camping and boating.
     She will be dearly missed by her husband, Dean, of Cadott, WI; two daughters: Dana Baures of Eau Claire, WI, and Dawn Curtis of Mondovi, WI; two step-daughters: Lana (Lance) Modl of Cadott, WI, and Lindsey (Scott) Klade of Irma, WI; nine grandchildren: Ahna, Hunter, Brianna, Alexa, Avah, Emma, Olivia, Cody and Colton; one brother, Brian (Bonnie) Gwiazda of Navarre, FL; one sister, Lorie Gwiazda (Mike Laird) of Holcombe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Judith Gwiazda; and two brothers: Mike and Jeff Gwiazda.
