Full Obituary LEROY P. ANDERSON, SR., age 79, of Loyal, WI, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at his home from heart failure.
LeRoy Palmer Anderson was born on May 12, 1945 in Ashland, WI, to Palmer “Ole” and Frances M. (Benedict) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm, and received his education in the Washburn area, graduating from Washburn High School in 1963. After high school, LeRoy worked at DuPont Barksdale Works. He was united in marriage to Gale Dandeneau in May 1970. In 1977, they moved their family to Dorchester, WI, where he ran his own dairy farm. LeRoy and Gale divorced in 1988. He later married Linda Primer in February 1991 and they divorced in 1993. At the time of his death, he has been with his partner, Darlene, since 2004. Later in life he worked as a truck driver, cheese factory worker, and ultimately retired from Abbyland Foods in 2014. In retirement he continued to always be finding something to fix or work on, even re-roofing his own home last year!
He is remembered for his kind, humble, generous and caring character. During his first marriage, LeRoy and Gale enjoyed square dancing and were actively involved in the local Farmers Union. His children and goddaughter have fond memories of him teaching them how to drive a tractor, bail hay, and feed the animals. He loved watching WWE wrestling, riding his motorcycle and was always ready to be outside. Throughout the many ups and downs of his life, he was always smiling, patient and saw the best in his family. We are forever grateful for the time spent with him in the last few weeks of his life.
LeRoy is survived by his children: LeRoy, Jr “JR”, Tina (Chris) Helmer, Palmer (Lori) Anderson; one sister: Polly Nikolai; eight grandchildren: Dominic, Keisha, Brennan, Ryan, Justin, Marissa, Connor and Tyrel; nieces Lisa, Sarah, and Anne, and many nieces and nephews from his first marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dianna; and one son, Dominic.
Our deepest thanks to all those in Loyal who have helped him one way or another. The community's compassion and willingness to assist those in need is truly a beautiful thing.
