A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Junction City, WI, with Fr. Nathan Packi officiating.

 

     JANIS A. OLSON, age 81, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Aspirus Stanley Hospital in Stanley, WI.  A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Junction City, WI, with Fr. Nathan Packi officiating.

     Janis Ann Sargent was born on August 10, 1941 in Junction City, WI, the daughter of William J. and Aileene E. (Allen) Sargent.  She began her education at White Lily school, rural Junction City, attended St. Michael's Catholic School, and graduated from P.J. Jacob's High School in Stevens Point, WI.  After high school, Janis worked at Weyenberg Shoe Manufacturing in Milwaukee, WI.  She was united in marriage Ingman "Paul" Olson on June 14, 1977 in Milwaukee.  In 1978, they purchased the Spot Tavern, in Owen, WI, which they operated for 5 1/2 years.  Janis later worked at a motel in Abbotsford, WI.  Her husband, Paul, passed away on March 18, 2010.

     She had many interests, but especially enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines.

     Janis is survived by one daughter: Lynnette Bomback of Milwaukee; three siblings: Lorna Parks of Milwaukee, Joan (Doug) Brierly of Solon Springs, WI, and Donald (Donna) Sargent of Winona, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters: Roberta Sizemore and Eljean Pacourek; and two brothers: Delbert and Marvin Sargent.
