Full Obituary
LILLIE M. STOKOSA, age 84, of Thorp, WI passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, December 5, 2022 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, WI, with Rev. Vijay Kumar Madani officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jesse Sonnentag, Charles Wagener, Daren Wagener, Riley Stokosa, Fred Wagener and Doug Thielke. Inurnment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, at the church, from 9:30am until time of service.
Lillie Mae Reed was born on August 8, 1938 in Oneida, KY, the daughter of Edward and Fannie F. (Davidson) Reed. When she was 15 years old, she moved to Chicago to live with her sister and find work. While living in Chicago, she worked at Crystal Tubes, where she met her future husband, Eugene L. Stokosa. They were united in marriage on January 12, 1957 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. They resided in Chicago, where she raised their family, and helped raise her nieces and nephews. In 1971, they moved to Thorp where she was a homemaker and helped her husband in their business, Thorp Label, formerly Lord Label.
She was an excellent seamstress and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Family was especially important to her, and she would drop anything to help her family. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards and games, going to the casino occasionally, and bowling when she was younger.
Lillie is survived by her children: Connie Sonnentag of Eau Claire, Mary (Fred) Wagener of Eau Claire, Lottie (Jason) Stokosa of Medford, Bonnie (Douglas) Thielke of Curtiss; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Paul (Crystal) Reed of Johnsburg, IL, Brenda Lou (Rich) McCracken of Haines City, FL; her sister-in-law: Gwen Reed of Huntley, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, on September 11, 2003; and six siblings: Rendia Katherine Gibson, Betty Ann Schulten, Ed Reed, Jr., Wanda Lee Belt, James Elmer Reed, and Linda Sue Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to House of the Dove, 1000 W. 11th Street, Marshfield, WI 54449.
