Full Obituary
MARY E. MARTIN, age 84, of Loyal, WI, formerly of Clinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at The Waterford Assisted Living Center, in Colby, WI. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11am on Monday, November 7th at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Joachims Catholic Cemetery in Pittsville, WI. Pallbearers will be: Sky Allen, Riley Allen, Aaron Allen, Ryan Simons, Brandon Allen, Lisa Leechman, James Behncke and Elizabeth Jansen. Honorary pallbearer will be Manda May. Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 10am until time of service.
Mary Ellen Kinney was born on May 25, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, to the late Anthony W. and Lydia M. (Steines) Kinney. She was raised and received her education in Clinton, and was a proud graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1956. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a kind and compassionate person who was always there when needed. Mary loved to paint, and donated many of her paintings to her church, and she was a deeply devoted Green Bay Packers fan. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children: Gerald (Karen) Simons of Greenwood, WI, Rhonda (Gary) Huskelhus of Loyal, WI, William (Joan) Simons of Goldsboro, NC, Julie Behncke of Scottsdale, AZ; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: John Kinney of Marion, IA, Loran Kinney of Apache Junction, AZ; her sister: Jenny Jansen of Calamus, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Marla Carson on February 15, 2021; her son-in-law: Jeff Behncke on June 14, 2022; one sister: Vera Hicks; and one brother: Billy Kinney in infancy.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff at The Waterford for the kindness and loving care of their mother. Also, their gratitude beyond measure to the nurses of Promedica Hospice.
