Full Obituary
MARILYN A. REDIG, age 74, of Loyal, WI, very peacefully passed away at her home, while her daughters were by her side and watched the angels take her to heaven, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 10am until time of service. The family would also like to invite you to Chili Corners after the burial for Marilyn's Celebration of Life.
Marilyn Ann Brecht was born on February 19, 1948 in Marshfield, WI to Peter Sr. and Velma (Vogel) Brecht. She was raised in Loyal and attended St. Anthony Parochial School. Her family briefly moved to Gilman, WI and then returned to Loyal, where she spent the rest of her life. After completing her education, she married Elmer A. Redig, Jr. and they farmed near Spokeville, rural Loyal, until 1976. After moving off of the farm, they built a home east of Loyal on Meridian Avenue where they raised their four daughters. While Marilyn was able to stay home and raise her daughters, her work as a housewife was never ending. She continued to farm, raising chickens and pigs near their home to provide for her family, while always finding time to sew her girls' their favorite clothes, Easter dresses and bonnets and so much more. Marilyn later went to work at Shopko in Marshfield, where she was employed for more than 20 years. After retiring, she took pride in being a patient sitter at St. Joseph's Hospital and cared for patients in Marshfield at CBRF homes as well. She then finished her working career by committing to her daughter, Cherilyn, at her business, Chili Corners, from 2002 to 2007. Without her, Cherilyn would have never taken on this business. She then was able to relax and reside in Loyal on the same property where she was raised.
Marilyn had many interests; sewing, crafts, camping, gardening, but especially loved country line dancing, where she met so many loving and beautiful friends. She truly enjoyed going to live music festivals with her daughters where they definitely made unforgettable memories. Last but not least, her true loving passion was being an amazing mother and grandmother.
Marilyn was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Central Wisconsin Country Line Dancing Club.
She will be deeply missed by her four daughters: Charity (Dave) Happe of Chili, Cherilyn Redig (Jeremy Martin) of Chili, Charlene (Michael) Fulwiler of Loyal, and Charlotte (Bill) Tarter of Edgar; 13 grandchildren: Jenaya and Dylan Paun, Tanner and Westin Happe, Taiyah, Calvin, Blake and Jade Tarter, Jennah "Grace" (Matt) Stark, Logan and Emileigh Fulwiler, Alik and Taylor Martin; two great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Mason Stark; one brother: Peter Jr. (Karyn) Brecht of Loyal; her former spouse: Elmer Redig, Jr. of Spencer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her very special, life-long friend, Fern Fitzl and many more.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Camille Genteman for loving and caring for their mother these past two years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons at birth, and two sisters Betty Zarnke and Janet Brasier.
“May your wings fly ~ and `I Hope You Dance` in heaven with the angels Momma!”
