Full Obituary

  HENRY G. SMOCZYK, age 83, of Thorp passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Turner Integrity Care in Thorp.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Thorp Funeral Home.  Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu will officiate and burial will follow in New St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Joe Pletka, Jr, Travis Johnson, Justin Johnson, Damian Johnson, Bonnie Johnson, and Marcus Shock.  Visitation will be held on Friday, at the funeral home, from 9:30am until time of service.  
   Henry Gervase Smoczyk was born on July 8, 1938 in rural Thorp, WI, the son of Frank & Frances (Mendalski) Smoczyk.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Red Brick and Yaeger Country Schools.  Henry worked at several different jobs over the years until beginning employment with ADS in Greenwood where he worked until March of 2020.
   He had many interests, but especially enjoyed making leather belts and wallets, solving word search puzzles, and watching television.
   Henry is survived by his sister: Rose Meyer of Stanley, his friend: Roy Kleist of Stanley, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Mary Kirschner; four brothers: Benedict, Ernest, Leon, and Edwin Smoczyk.
