A graveside service will be held for Rich at 11am on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thorp, with Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiating.

 

     RICHARD P. LEWIEN, age 66, of Thorp, WI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 20 2021.  Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at Yellowstone Park in Thorp.  Military rites will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post #118.  

     Richard Paul Lewien was born on September 14, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Steve J. and Elizabeth J. (Quade) Lewien, Sr.  He was raised and received his education in Thorp, graduating from Thorp High School in 1972.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 13, 1978 and served until his honorable discharge on November 12, 1981.  Rich returned to Thorp and was employed at Boyd Lumber in Boyd, WI.  It was there that he met Cheryl Anne Ziwisky and they were married in 1985.  They later divorced.  Most recently, Rich mowed lawns and did snow removal for people in his neighborhood.

     He had many interests, including, spending time at his land south of Thorp, and reading Louis L'Amour books.

     Rich is survived by his daughter: Natasha (Randy) Swanson of Eau Claire; one granddaughter: Elizabeth Swanson of Eau Claire; 5 siblings: David (Mary) Lewien of Ellsworth, WI, Steve J. Lewien, Jr. of Clinton, Iowa, Fred (Marsha) Lewien of Neenah, WI, Mary (Al) Stouff of Medford, WI, and Paul Lewien of Thorp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents.
