Full Obituary
CONRAD O. BARTH, age 93, of Thorp, WI, formerly of Darien, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Thorp Funeral Home, with Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, in Elwood, IL, at a later date.
Conrad Oscar Barth was born on April 2, 1927 in Thorp, WI, the son of Conrad W. and Gertrude L. (Meier) Barth. He was raised on the family farm, and received his education at Maple Ridge School. After his schooling, Conrad worked for Philip Mattes, in Thorp, before enlisting into the U.S. Army on March 9, 1946. After his honorable discharge on August 25, 1947, he moved to Milwaukee where he worked in a factory. Conrad later moved to Illinois, where he met and married Lorraine B. Kondelik on October 20, 1962 at Visitation Church in Chicago, IL. They lived in Clarendon Hills, IL and Conrad worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Railroad Refrigeration Technician. They later moved to Darien, IL, and he continued working for the railroad until retiring in 1994. After his wife's death on August 6, 2013, Conrad moved from his home in Darien, back to his hometown of Thorp in 2018.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Conrad was a member of the Westmont American Legion Post #338.
He is survived by his siblings: Ione Much of Shiocton, WI, Fred Barth of Greenwood, WI, Donna Hein of Sun Prairie, WI, Trudy Hollfelder of Mt. Horeb, WI, Ed (Kathie) Barth of Thorp, WI; one sister-in-law: Esther Barth of Thorp; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Conrad was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; and 2 brothers: Leonard and Robert Barth; 3 brothers-in-law: Ralph Much, David Hein and Roger Hollfelder; and 2 sisters-in-law: Nancy and Angie Barth.
