Full Obituary

     HELEN L. SEVERSON, age 92, of Loyal, WI, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center on Friday, August 7, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, WI. Pastor Geoff Smith and Pastor Dave Sommerfeld will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9am until time of service.
     Helen Lorraine Thomas was born on December 18, 1927 in the Town of Bern, Marathon County, WI, to Melvin M. and Altah A. (Sischo) Thomas. She was raised and received her education in Clark County, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1946. Helen was united in marriage to Lester W. Severson on June 8, 1946 at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. She farmed with her husband and raised their family in the Town of Beaver. After selling the farm later in life, they built their current home on 80 acres. She was married to her husband, Lester, for 71 years until his passing on October 26, 2017.
     She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, sewing, cooking, baking, and playing cards.
     Helen will be dearly missed by her children: Kathy (Richard) Much of Greenwood, Dale (Kathy) of Curtiss, Richard of Loyal; her daughter-in-law: Joan Severson of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one brother: Dale (Crystal) Thomas of Greenwood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; two sons: Robert on June 20, 2001 and Kenneth on February 18, 2017; two daughters-in-law: Lisa Severson on July 27, 2010, and June Severson on April 2, 2016; one grandson: Jeffery Severson; two brothers: Frank and Ralph Thomas; and one sister: Geneva Olson.
