Full Obituary

HELEN BEHM, age 96, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Thorp Funeral Home, with Luther Raine and Perry Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mike Lewien, Willie Behm, Jacob Behm, Marvin Scholze, William Scholze, and Theo Scholze. Honorary pallbearers will be: Becky and Leah Behm. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Monday, from 10:30am until time of service.
Helen Leszewski was born on September 14, 1923 in Cook County, IL, the daughter of John J. and Julia (Ras) Leszewski. At the age of 5, her family moved to the Town of Taft, rural Thorp, where she received her education at Red Brick School. After completing her education, Helen worked in the Chicago area for a brief time. She was united in marriage to John Arthur Behm on February 16, 1944 in Medford, WI. After their marriage, Helen and Art purchased a farm in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, in 1945, and farmed for over 43 years. In 1988, they retired and moved to the City of Thorp, to their home on E. Maple Street. Helen continued to reside there until entering Oakbrook Health & Rehab on February 13, 2014.
She had many interests, but especially enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising flowers and selling sweet corn.
Helen is survived by her son, Russell (Debbie) of Thorp; 4 grandchildren: Willie (Michelle), Becky, Leah, and Jacob  Behm; one sister, Irene Becker of Tucson, AZ; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, on March 26, 2004; one brother, John Leszewski.
